Meet the Governors
What do Governors do ?
Our Governors work as a voluntary strategic management team. They are responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality education for all pupils. Overseeing the broader work of the school and driving the rising standards of attainment and progress are key priorities. They do this together with the Headteacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the school.
The role of the governing body is to act as a 'critical friend', supporting the work of the Headteacher and staff. This means that they provide both support and challenge. Laira Green Primary School has a delegated budget to cover salaries, running costs, maintenance and equipment, and support service costs. The Governing Body has the responsibility for overseeing this budget, and to set the school’s aims and policies. The Headteacher and the school management team implement these and work with the Governors to monitor their effectiveness.
